  1. How to add Cash on Delivery to a Shopify storeIn your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Payments, select Cash on Delivery (COD) from the manual payment methods, add the text shoppers see, and activate it. COD orders arrive unpaid, so you mark each one as paid after the courier pays you.
  2. How to rename Cash on Delivery at Shopify checkoutShopify reserves the name "Cash on Delivery (COD)" and its help pages give no way to edit it. For a clearer name, create a custom manual method with your own wording, or use an app with a payment customization that renames COD at checkout, with an Arabic name for Arabic shoppers.
  3. How to hide a payment method on Shopify: every option explainedTo remove a payment method for everyone, deactivate it in Settings > Payments. To hide it only for some checkouts, you need a payment customization: a public app (any plan), Shopify's Checkout Blocks app (Plus only) or a custom app (Plus only). Shopify Scripts were set to stop on June 30, 2026.
  4. From Shopify Scripts to Functions: what changed for payment rulesShopify stopped Script editing on April 15, 2026 and switched all Scripts off on June 30, 2026. Payment rules now run as payment customization Functions inside apps. Plus stores should check what their old Scripts did. Other plans could never use Scripts but can use public apps with Functions.
  5. How to hide COD above a cart totalShopify's payment settings can't limit Cash on Delivery by cart total, so you need a payment customization that hides COD when the cart is above an amount you choose. Pick the amount from your own refused COD orders, and test it with a large draft order.
  6. How to turn off COD for certain productsShopify has no per-product COD switch. The usual way is to tag those products (for example no-cod) and use a payment customization that hides COD when a tagged product is in the cart. You can tag many products at once from the Products page in your admin.
  7. How to block COD for specific customers with tagsAdd a tag such as cod-refused to the customer's profile in Shopify and use a payment rule that hides Cash on Delivery for tagged customers. The rule only sees the tag when Shopify knows who is checking out: a signed-in customer, or a draft order assigned to them.
  8. How to limit COD by emirate, region or cityIn the GCC, Shopify's checkout asks for a region only in the UAE (emirate) and Kuwait (governorate), so region rules can work only there. For Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman, and for places smaller than a region, block city names in every English and Arabic spelling.
  9. How to hide COD on large first ordersSet a first-order amount: when a new customer's cart is above it, COD is hidden and they pay online; at or below it, COD stays. At checkout, "first order" means a guest or a signed-in customer with no previous orders, so returning customers who check out as guests also count as new.
  10. How to find cancelled COD orders in Shopify adminIn Orders, filter by Order status: Canceled and a date range, then save it as a view. Shopify's order filters don't include payment method, so export the list and filter the Payment Method column for your COD method's name, such as "Cash on Delivery (COD)".
  11. How to test checkout payment rules with draft ordersCreate a draft order with the cart, customer and address that should trigger your rule, copy its checkout link and open it in a private window. Payment customizations run on that checkout, but not when you collect payment for the draft inside the Shopify admin.
  12. Shopify payment customizations explainedA payment customization is a Shopify Function, added by an app, that can hide, rename or reorder payment methods at checkout. It changes what the shopper sees, not your payment settings. A store can have 25 active, and they don't run in the Shopify admin or POS.
  13. Automatic cod-refused tagging with Shopify FlowShopify Flow is free on the Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus plans. A workflow with the Order canceled trigger, a condition that the payment gateway includes "Cash on Delivery" and the Add customer tags action can tag refusers. Test it on a shipped order first, and review the tags.
  14. How to tag many Shopify customers at onceIn Customers, select the customers (or a whole segment), click the menu next to Edit customers and choose Add tags or Remove tags. Use a segment to build the list first. Be careful with CSV import: overwriting existing customers replaces all their data, including tags.
  15. Checkout address fields for the Gulf: phone, landmarks, address line 2In Settings > Checkout, set the shipping address phone number to Required if your courier calls, keep address line 2 Optional and leave out company name. Shopify's form has no postcode for the UAE or Qatar and no landmark field anywhere, so collect landmarks another way.
  16. Shipping zones and rates for the GCC on ShopifyGo to Settings > Shipping and delivery, create a zone for each group of GCC countries that share a price, and add flat, order-amount or weight rates. Each country must also be in an active market. For COD orders, keep rates simple so the shopper knows the total before the courier comes.
  17. Product page details that cut COD refusalsMany COD refusals start with a surprise: a higher total, a slow delivery, a product that looks different or a size that doesn't fit. Show the full price with delivery, a delivery time in words, your returns policy, real photos and a size guide on the product page.
  18. COD for orders between GCC countries: currency and dutiesA cross-border COD order can surprise the shopper twice: a different currency, and duties or import VAT on top of your price. Before offering COD abroad, check what your courier collects and who pays border charges, and turn COD off where the shopper would pay extra at the door.
