What Khaleeji COD never changes
Khaleeji COD changes one thing in your store: the Cash on Delivery option at checkout. It can hide COD for a risky checkout, or show it under a clearer name. It doesn't touch your other payment methods, your prices, your orders or your payment settings, and it keeps no customer data outside your store.
Which payment methods can it change?
Only Cash on Delivery. At every checkout, the rule first reads the name of each payment method and picks out the COD ones. A method counts as COD when its name:
- contains "Cash on Delivery", "Cash-on-Delivery" or "Pay on Delivery", with any capital letters. Shopify's built-in "Cash on Delivery (COD)" method matches;
- contains «الدفع عند الاستلام», «الدفع عند التسليم» or «الدفع نقدا عند الاستلام»;
- or is exactly "COD", "(COD)" or "C.O.D".
A method with any other name is left alone, even if shoppers pay cash at the door with it. The app has no setting for adding other names. If your COD method is called something else, see troubleshooting.
What does it never change?
- Card payments, Apple Pay and other wallets, buy now pay later methods such as Tabby and Tamara, bank transfer, and any other method whose name isn't on the list above.
- The order of your payment methods. The app hides or renames COD and does nothing else.
- Prices, shipping rates and totals. It adds no fee and no discount.
- Your payment settings. The COD method stays active in Settings > Payments. The app only changes what the shopper sees in that one checkout.
- Orders that already exist. It can't cancel or edit an order, or mark one as paid.
- Your Shopify admin and POS. Shopify doesn't run payment customizations there, or when you create a draft order and collect payment inside the admin, so your staff see COD as normal.
What happens if the settings are missing or broken?
Nothing changes. When something is wrong with the settings, COD shows as usual:
- If no settings have been saved yet, or the saved settings can't be read, the rule makes no changes. COD shows with its normal name.
- If no payment method in the checkout is recognised as COD, the rule makes no changes.
- A rule that's switched on with no amount, or an amount of 0, never matches.
- A region or city rule that's switched on with an empty list never matches.
The app never falls back to hiding everything.
What data does it keep?
Your settings are saved in your own Shopify store, on the app's checkout rule. There's no separate account or login. The app's privacy policy, linked at the bottom of the Khaleeji COD page, says:
- At checkout, the rule looks at the cart total, the customer's tags and number of previous orders, the shipping country, region and city, product tags and the checkout language. Shopify processes this inside its own systems for that checkout only. It isn't sent to the developer and isn't stored.
- The app doesn't request access to customer names, email addresses, phone numbers or postal addresses, and it never sees card details.
- The refuser scan runs only when you click Scan orders. It reads orders placed in the last 60 days that were later cancelled (up to 1,000): the order ID, payment method names, cancellation status, and the customer's ID and tags.
- Scan results and the money-lost report are worked out in your browser and aren't saved. Your choice of Arabic or English is also kept only in your browser.
- A small service on Cloudflare delivers the admin page, receives Shopify's required privacy webhooks and checks which plan you're on. It doesn't store merchant or customer data.
Besides the fields listed above, the scan checks whether each cancelled order has a fulfillment, so the money-lost report can count only the orders that had shipped.
What does it write to your store?
Two things, and nothing else:
- One payment customization named Khaleeji COD, which holds your rule settings. You can see it in Settings > Payments: click Manage in the Payment customizations section.
- The
cod-refusedtag on customers, and only after you click Tag N customers following a scan.
It never adds or removes product tags, and it never removes customer tags. You add no-cod and
cod-blocked yourself, in Shopify.
What happens when you uninstall?
- The checkout rule is part of the app, so it stops when the app is removed. COD then shows to every shopper again, under its original name.
- The app's privacy policy says Shopify removes the checkout rule together with the settings saved on it. If you reinstall later, check your rules and press Save rules before you rely on them.
- If you're on Pro, uninstalling cancels the subscription. The terms of service say charges already billed aren't refunded, except where the law or Shopify's policies require it.
- Some things stay in your store: the
cod-refusedtags the app added, anycod-blockedandno-codtags you added, your COD payment method, and all your orders. These are ordinary Shopify data. To remove the tags, filter your customers by tag in Customers.
