What is Gulf ID?
Gulf ID (Arabic name «الهوية الخليجية») is a Shopify app for stores that deliver in the Gulf. It asks buyers for their Saudi national ID or Iqama number, or another Gulf ID number, on the cart. A checkout rule blocks checkout when a number you require is missing or not valid, and the number is saved on the order for you and your courier. It is made by Trifid Media LLC in Dubai, the team behind Khaleeji COD, and it is not on the Shopify App Store yet.

How it works
Turn on the cart box
Switch on the Gulf ID app embed in your theme editor. The box shows on the cart page and in the cart drawer, above Check out.
Choose each country
Set Required, Optional or Off for each delivery country. Nothing is asked of buyers in countries you leave Off.
The buyer types the number
Arabic or English labels follow the store language. Arabic digits, spaces and dashes are accepted and cleaned up.
Checkout checks it
If a required number is missing or not valid, checkout stops with a clear Arabic or English message. Valid numbers are saved on the order.
What gets checked
Checks confirm that a number is well formed. They don't look anything up in a government database, and they can't confirm the number belongs to the buyer.

Nothing stored by the app
Numbers are saved as cart attributes and on the order in your Shopify store. They never reach the app's servers.
Two permissions only
The app asks for read_validations and write_validations. It has no access to orders, customers or themes.
Sales never stop because of the app
"Let orders through if the check itself fails to run" is on by default.
Good to know
- Shop Pay and Apple Pay buttons on the cart skip the box, but the order still passes the checkout rule, so a missing required number is still blocked there.
- Draft orders shared with Shopify's "ignore checkout rules" option are not checked.
- Check digits for countries other than Saudi Arabia will only be switched on after they are tested with real numbers, so a real buyer is never wrongly blocked.

Questions and answers
Can I install Gulf ID now?
Not yet. Gulf ID is in final testing and hasn't been submitted to the Shopify App Store. Email 9090mohammad123@gmail.com and we'll tell you the day it goes live.
Do I need Shopify Plus?
No. Gulf ID uses a cart and checkout validation from a public app, which Shopify allows on every plan.
Does Gulf ID check the number with the government?
No. It checks that the number is well formed, and for the Saudi national ID and Iqama it also checks the check digit. It can't confirm the number exists or belongs to the buyer.
Where are the ID numbers stored?
In your Shopify store only, as cart attributes and on the order. The app stores nothing and never receives the numbers.
What happens if the buyer uses Apple Pay or Shop Pay on the cart?
Those buttons skip the cart box, but the order still goes through the checkout rule, so a missing required number is still blocked.
Is it in Arabic?
Yes. The cart box, checkout messages and the app's settings page all come in Arabic and English, and Arabic shows right to left.
How is it related to Khaleeji COD?
Both are made by Trifid Media LLC in Dubai for Gulf Shopify stores. They are separate apps: Khaleeji COD controls Cash on Delivery, Gulf ID collects ID numbers.
