Payments in the Gulf
Cards, local networks, wallets, pay-later and fees: the online options that can replace COD in each GCC country.

- Online payment methods by GCC countryEach GCC country has a local card network or wallet next to Visa and Mastercard: Jaywan (UAE), mada (Saudi Arabia), KNET (Kuwait), NAPS with QPay (Qatar), BenefitPay (Bahrain) and OmanNet (Oman). Apple lists Apple Pay in all six. Your payment provider decides which ones your checkout takes.
- Shopify Payments in the GCC: where it works and what to use elsewhereOn 26 October 2026, Shopify Payments was available in the UAE and in no other GCC country. Stores based in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain or Oman use a third-party payment provider from Settings > Payments, and Shopify adds a transaction fee to payments made through it.
- Buy now, pay later in the Gulf and what it means for CODBuy now, pay later (BNPL) lets a shopper split an online payment into instalments while the provider pays the store. On Shopify you add it as a payment method, through the provider's app if it has one. It gives shoppers who use COD to delay paying a prepaid option.
- Should you charge a COD fee?Shopify has no setting that adds a fee when a shopper picks Cash on Delivery, so a COD fee needs an app or a workaround. A fee can pay for cash handling on delivered orders, but it brings in nothing on refused parcels, so it isn't a fix for refusals.
- Partial COD and deposits: how they workPartial COD means the shopper pays a deposit online and the rest in cash at the door. Shopify's normal checkout has no deposit option for COD. On Shopify Plus, draft orders can require a deposit; on other plans you need an app or a separate payment link. Set your refund rule first.
