  1. How to mark COD orders as paid in ShopifyShopify treats COD as a manual payment, so each COD order stays Pending until you record the money. Open the order, click Collect payment, then Mark as paid. Do it when the courier's payout for that order reaches you, not on the day you ship.
  2. Fulfilling COD orders: tracking numbers and the fulfilled statusFulfill each COD order in Shopify on the day the parcel leaves, with the courier's tracking number. The shopper gets a shipping confirmation, and your orders then show which refused orders really went out. Refusal rates and shipping-loss figures depend on that record.
  3. Refunding a COD order: what Shopify can and can't doShopify never handled the cash, so it can't send a COD refund for you. Pay the shopper yourself, for example by bank transfer, then record the refund on the order so your reports match. Shopify store credit or a gift card are options when the shopper agrees.
  4. Courier COD payouts: how and when the cash reaches youYour courier collects the cash at the door and pays it to you later in batches, on the schedule in your contract, minus any fees it is allowed to deduct. Match each payout statement to your Pending Shopify orders, then mark those orders as paid and chase anything missing.
  5. Failed delivery attempts: what to do before a parcel comes backA failed delivery attempt is your last chance to save a COD order. Couriers allow a set number of attempts or days, so contact the shopper the same day, fix the address or phone, give the courier a new time, and cancel in Shopify only when the shopper says no or the parcel is back.
  6. How to work out your COD refusal rate in a spreadsheetCOD refusal rate = COD orders that shipped and were then cancelled ÷ COD orders that shipped, for the same period. Export your orders from Shopify, add four helper columns, and two SUM formulas give the rate. SUMIFS by emirate or city shows where refusals cluster.
  7. Getting ready for White Friday, Ramadan and Eid with CODBefore a sales peak, check last year's refusal rate, set temporary COD limits for the sale dates, promise delivery dates that allow for busy couriers and Eid holidays, agree capacity with your courier, and plan who confirms orders. Switch the temporary limits off when the peak ends.
  8. When COD is still worth offeringCOD is worth offering while the profit from delivered COD orders is larger than the cost of the ones that come back. Often that means keeping COD for most orders and limiting it only on the riskiest ones. Turn it off only when your own refusal rate passes your break-even.

Stop paying shipping twice for refused orders
